Pre-prosthetic Surgery

Before prosthetic surgery, the preparation of your mouth is an important process referred to as pre-prosthetic surgery. To ensure the maximum level of comfort with a partial or complete denture, some patients require minor oral surgical procedures. Because the denture will sit on the bone ridge, it is important to that the bone is shaped properly. The underlying bone of an extracted tooth may be sharp and uneven, and will need to be smoothed out or re shaped. On occasion excess bone may need to be removed before the denture can be inserted.

Procedures that may be required are the following

-Bone ridge reduction

-Removal of excess gum tissue

-Removal of excess bone

-Bone smoothing and reshaping

-Exposure of impacted teeth
