Bone Morphogenic Protein (BMP)

(845) 340-1962

Bone morphogenic protein is an isolated protein that induces specific cells in our body to form new cartilage and bone. During oral surgery, the BMP is applied to a resorbable collagen sponge. Bone Morphogenic Protein stimulates your body’s own cells to produce new bone. The BMP also disappears once it has completed its goal of initiating the normal bone healing process.

Since there is no need to harvest bone from the patients’ hip for BMP, recipients were spared donor site pain and other related side effects and potential complications.

Our Kingston oral surgeon Dr. Matthew Hilmi will discuss the various grafting options available and applicable to your case during your consultation.
